Black is the color of my true love

I know I didn’t use the full title of Nina Simone’s classic song in the title of my post, but unfortunately, this post isn’t about hair.

Still, this song was on my mind over the weekend as I found myself surrounded in a sea of black clothing, objects and weather. I noticed how much I am drawn to the color on a daily basis because it really is one of my favorite colors. Not only is it slimming and chic, but I also admire it’s sleekness, it’s ability to blend in and how damned beautiful it is.

I finally got the chance to wear the beautiful three hole dress dress I ordered from the super talented and cool Alicia at InnyVinny. I love the dress in all of its versatility. I paired the dress with leggings and my new heels from Aldo. Note that they are not black, but gray! That took a lot of restraint in itself.

The best way to end the weekend and begin a new week? Lighting up my Diptyque Baies Noir candle (black, of course!) and rereading my favorite Edgar Allen Poe stories while waiting for the eventual rain.

And you know, I think it's so easy to make black a default color in so many of our clothing choices, that you don't realize how much of it is in your wardrobe until you stand back!
