Summertime, And the Livin’ is Easy

I always find dressing during the summer to be difficult. I’m used to layering and I continue to pile layers on top of layers of shirts on, even in 90+ degree weather. Inspiration also fades during the summer as I don’t put as much thought into color schemes and teaming outfits up. Instead, I dress pretty plainly and comfortably, but not very “fashionably”.

I wore this outfit yesterday and it was the first time I’ve worn jeans in about a week. The jeans are from American Eagle Outfitters and I bought them after seeing the shredded version on Vogue.com. I went to the website where they were on sale for $29.99. I snagged them at the store for $24.99 Hey, you can do a lot with an extra $5.00 these days! In this “getting comfortable” phase, I really don’t want to spend much on jeans, so this pair was perfect. Plus, I really like the more relaxed fit to offset the constant skinny jeans.

i layer a lot too. but unfortunately, i get severely allergic to the heat and actually develop rashes from the heat, so i can't layer as much as i want. i hate the summer because of the rashes i get, which is really ugly and annoying and even painful! so i really don't have much summer clothes, let alone nice ones. which means i look terrible in summer but much nicer in winter!

I'm totally with you. It is just too hot right now to put cuteness ahead of comfort, hahaha. My summer wardrobe is consisting of lots of tunic/leggings combos and lots of flowy/drapey tunic/dress things with slip skirts underneath. Original? Probably not! Comfortable? You bet your ass!

Ugh, I hate heat rashes as well! They are so annoying and it's hard to keep from getting with or without layering in such sweltering heat.

aww, thanks Michelle! It's hard to be original when it feels like you're just dressing for survival. I think it can be the same in the winter with the cold weather, but you have so many more accessories to play with such as scarves and gloves and hats!
